I tried Norton once, a number of years ago. It came to the step where it said “Now we will pretend to “crash” your computer and then restore it!”. Well, it did the “crash” but couldn’t restore. Boy was I pissed! lol

(pre-disclosure, I’m a Symantec-basher, not a Microsoft-basher)

I’ve been using Norton AntiVirus and Norton Utilities since ‘91. Haven’t had significant problems to speak of from THOSE programs. The problems come in all the other things Symantec puts out. Except for LiveUpdate (which screws up occasionally), I do NOT use those others.
