There are all kinds of legitimate answers to my question: “it’s bad for business for such and such reasons”, “it’s spec work and it’s a no-no”, etc. “Because she has a right to” is not one of them.

Honestly though none of those other reasons are relevant to the takedown notice. You don’t explain the reasoning behind your request to the offending party, you just assert your rights.

Like I said, this is a gigantic sore spot for creatives in general, that’s the mindset.
