Ed is right if we only offer amnesty and not include it as part of a comprehensive package of immigration reform, which would have to include restricting access across our borders, registering and tracking illegals and not hesitating to revoke the visas of those who violate the law and deport them.

That and I have a relative that has effectively been “illegal” in the United States for 20+ years. This relative’s kids are American, spouse is permanent resident, and they’re going through an expensive process just to fix up that relative’s status.

(Note: Just in case anyone from the INS is watching, I’m declining to state that relative’s gender.)
