This might explain some of the intensity of feeling about Palin. Emotional connections with politicians can be dangerous for a country.

I think there is more to this story than I can figure out. Why would Palin elicite this emotion as opposed to Newt Gingrich, or John Kerry for the Dems? There was a convergence of things here, I think. Maybe blogs, plus anger plus her image, i.e., “outsider” and the belief that she was the next Reagan. I’m sure some sociologist or political scientist or somebody will write a book on this and try to explain.
