That’s how I see it. To me, it’s no different than someone being told that their ancestors did some amazing thing only to find out later that it wasn’t the case. I’m not seeing the outrage here at all.

Yep, family lore is part of being in a family. Every family has one. I remember my grandfather saying his brother would have been a big league pitcher if not for his drinking. Have no idea if that’s true or not but it’s part of lore.
