If consenting adults has real meaning, alternative lifestyle etc, what is the problem with polygamy in principle?

my main response to this argument is that , while this may not be true for everyone, I was born gay. ie: Ive been gay my whole life. ie: I had a crush on my gym teacher when I was in like kindergarten. I don’t think someone can be born a polygamist. they’re heterosexual who want to have more than one opposite sex partner. I didnt chose being gay. and I only want one partner. so its different. altho Ill concede that this ‘slippery slope’ argument is probably the best one in the anti-gay marriage movement’s quiver.
