There are certain things in history that I do lament, Reconstruction among them. But I do wonder about the butterfly effect as well. How many of us would not be here if we so radically changed the last 160 years of history? It’s the same reason I have complicated feelings about Cuba - on the one hand, Castro’s regime took everything from my family; on the other, I wouldn’t have been born if he hadn’t.

I know what you mean about butterfly effects. But yeah changing that, you change history. We can always play what if with history.
