ATI was smart to hitch their future up to AMD, it means their circuits will be used when AMD incorporates a GPU into their chips. AMD might have to switch to CISC chips though to keep up with Intel, their RISC chips are falling behind.

Yep. It’s already happening. Even though AMD’s CPUs are behind Intel’s, the ones with integrated video are light years ahead of Intel’s video.

I don’t know what’s going to happen with AMD. I was looking forward to some competition in the market with Bulldozer. But that was a let down. Personally I think they should get an ARM license for the mobile space and go back to competing with Intel on Instructions Per Clock in the desktop space. They just don’t have the manufacturing capability to rest so much on clocks.
