Ron Paul: Michele Bachmann ‘Hates Muslims’

If I didn’t know about Ron Paul’s far right and neo-Confederate connections, and his history of blatantly racist newsletters, and everything else about him, I’d probably be giving him kudos right now for telling the unvarnished truth about Michele Bachmann (and most of the rest of the GOP field too, for that matter): Ron Paul Takes Swipes at GOP Rivals, Says Michele Bachmann ‘Hates Muslims’.

Appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Friday, the presidential hopeful took a swipe at his GOP rivals telling the crowd that Michele Bachmann “hates Muslims.”

When asked by host Jay Leno what he thought of his rivals, Paul shook his head, slowed his voice and said, “she doesn’t like Muslims, she hates them, she wants to go get ‘em” — in reference to the comments Bachmann has made on the campaign trail over her willingness to attack Iran over its suspected nuclear program.

One of Michele Bachmann’s policy advisers is Frank “Shariah Panic” Gaffney, who is about one degree of separation from anti-Muslim hate group leader Pamela Geller, so this is not an unfounded conclusion.

Bachmann, of course, is outraged that anyone would notice these things.

Bachmann, who is campaigning today in Iowa, rejected Paul’s comments.

“Of course I don’t hate Muslims,” Bachmann told ABC News adding “that’s an absolutely outrageous statement.”

No, it really isn’t.

I don't think Bachmann really has a firm conception of what a Muslim is, honestly.

In the GOP, its just a question of who you hate and fear more; blacks and jews or muslims? I guess they all go in for fear mongering about Hispanics. I wonder who they prefer at Stormfront?

Oh, and for those Paulian idiots who keep claiming his newsletter wasn't written by him-- why did one issue (an issue with some really foul racism) end with him referring to his wife by name?

Just a big coincidence?

As far as Iran is concerned, isn't Ron Paul on the record as having no problems with Iran having nuclear weapons (never mind treaties, or the desire to hasten the coming of the Maahdi, aka end of the world, as they wish at the beginning of every speech)?

I got a 60GB SSD first but had to get a larger one since I only had 12GB left with OS install. Now I have the 60 and a 120GB SSD. I was tempted to clone it over but decided to do a clean install instead since cloning might ruin the alignment on the SSD which is critical. That and a vanilla 500GB HDD. For now. They're all hooked up to 6GB SATA lines.

He and Bachmann had a big fight about that in the last debate. Paul thinks the rest of the GOP field are bent on another war in Iran like we just got out of in Iraq.

I have 2 1-TB SATA 6GB in a RAID0 configuration so I'm going to shrink that partition to 100GB and then clone it to my SATA 6GB 120GB SSD. The trouble is, I have >600GB of data on the RAID and no partition to move most of it to, so I'll have to piss around with shrinking and expanding partitions.

I haven't seen a big difference in speed between SATA 3GB and 6GB yet but I'm not using 6GB rated cables, so that may be the problem.

I was reading that there not much difference between a 6GB and 3GB cable. I also think that the 6GB gets throttled down anyway and really goes down to around 5GB. Not sure yet since I'm learning a lot of this new stuff right now. But I can say for certain that this set up is lightening fast compared to my now ancient and dead machine. Think the capacitors blew. They were bulging and leaking a bit. The i5 isn't top of the line but I was on a budget. Would consider an i7 in the future and then bumping up the video card from a Nvidia Geforce 450S to one of the 550s.

The new gen i5 is as fast or faster than the previous gen i7 so you've got lots of juice. I'm running an AMD Phenom X6 and I know you've got more power than I do. The new gen Intel stuff is really quite overclockable too, so before you put out major bucks for an i7, OC the CPU, RAM and GPU.

Did you check inside the PS?
Caps have a tendency to make noise when they pop, and there is more than one 12v and one 5v channels in recent PSs.

If you wait for the new and upcoming chips, you'll always be waiting.

ATI was smart to hitch their future up to AMD, it means their circuits will be used when AMD incorporates a GPU into their chips. AMD might have to switch to CISC chips though to keep up with Intel, their RISC chips are falling behind.

Yep. It's already happening. Even though AMD's CPUs are behind Intel's, the ones with integrated video are light years ahead of Intel's video.

I don't know what's going to happen with AMD. I was looking forward to some competition in the market with Bulldozer. But that was a let down. Personally I think they should get an ARM license for the mobile space and go back to competing with Intel on Instructions Per Clock in the desktop space. They just don't have the manufacturing capability to rest so much on clocks.

Good point. AMD will always be hampered by the extra layer they need to convert their RISC instructions to Intel compatible CISC instructions. Microsoft's success has done as much to elevate Intel's success as anything Intel has done. Had MS gone with a multi-platform OS as Linux has done, AMD would be farther ahead than they are.

re: #57 b_sharp

Actually they are both using RISC-like architectures internally now. Intel has been doing it since the Pentium Pro.

I just mean that they need to focus the architecture on being able to retire as many x86 instructions for every clock cycle as possible. That's how they defeated Intel with K8. The new bulldozer doesn't focus on that and has to be clocked higher to compensate. Unfortunately their manufacturing capability is significantly behind Intel's, so high clock are hard to attain and cause high power consumption.

I haven't heard of the gold scams. But I had a boss about 10 years ago who fell for one of the money transfer scams. Luckily his bank caught it as they were emptying his account. Idiot.

I saw a youtube thingie recently on why so many cultures in so many places chose gold for money (I think it might have been Sully's blog that directed me to it?) -- anyway, they put up the entire chart of periodic elements, eliminated the gases, the liquids, the ones that burn or rust or are otherwise reactive with commonly encountered substances, the ones that spew radiation, the ones that are only made in labs, the ones so rare they weren't even discovered until the industrial era. When they'd finished the eliminations, all that was left was gold and silver; gold being declared more valuable because it's the one that doesn't tarnish.

114 Gretchen G.Tiger  Sat, Dec 17, 2011 5:01:06pm

A bit of color theory:

Pure black and pure white are the absence of light and the combination of the visible spectrum of light (for lack of a simpler explanation of the visible spectrum --think of a prism)

Anyway, the color we see when we look at something is a combination of the lightwaves that are reflected from it. That combination is technically-gray.

It's easier to think of it when color is in the form of pigment. Gray is created by combining colors from opposite sides of the color wheel. NOT (very often) by combining black and white pigments--if you want to create an interesting gray or are trying to copy a gray from nature.

i.e. - yellow-green + red = gray. They hues of gray are innumerable and mostly beautiful. Most of what we perceive as color is really a variant of gray.

Meaning not a grade of color between black and white, but a grade of color that combines two or more hues.

Anyway, I tend to apply color theory a lot to life.

Most of it is gray.

So those who see life only thru a black and white lens are missing the vast majority of life.

regarding gold:

Throughout the history of man’s involvement with gold, the precious metal has been cherished not only for its beauty but for gold’s ability to withstand the rigors of time. No substance that appears commonly in nature will destroy gold. Unaffected by air, moisture, heat or cold, this noble metal will not tarnish, rust or corrode. Shimmering gold dust, golden nuggets of placer gold and brilliant vein occurrences have survived 4.5 Billion years of cataclysmic geologic and climate changes; volcanic Eruption, earthquakes, upheavals and deposition. Treasures of gold jewelry, bullion and coins, buried for thousands of years beneath land and sea have been recovered intact; as brilliant as the day they were abandoned.

I originally thought the change in tactics to foreclosed homes might be a better path but an article a few days ago with case examples (I think from Seattle) showed some of the problems. In one case the homeowner didn't want to keep the house, it was too expensive, they couldn't afford the payments and wanted out. Squatters showing up just prolonged her financial predicament. In another case a young couple were trying to buy a foreclosed property, made their downpayment then squatters showed up. The family's plans are on hold while the legal battles drag out. In the end I don't think it will be a productive tactic and is only going to piss off more people that might otherwise support the movement.

A generation later, the 1960 sit-ins began as seemingly spontaneous lunch-counter occupations by college students in Greensboro, North Carolina. They quickly spread to dozens of cities throughout the South. Now canonized, at the time they were extremely controversial, even among African-American civil-rights veterans. Thurgood Marshall was notoriously furious with the students for violating private property rights in a way that he both opposed in principle and feared might generate a backlash.

Malleability is probably one major reason for its prominence in value, aside from rarity, but to be honest I think decoratively speaking silver is more attractive overall. Gold doesn't match as well. For example, I bought my wife a very nice 18k necklace years ago weighing about 80 grams, when the price was less than a third of what it is today, but it doesn't go with anything else she likes. Gold and silver don't mesh.
