There are certain kinds of “scenes” that I can’t deal with. Some kinds of sadistic violence and also some scenes of sexual or psych violence perpetrated against those unable to protect themselves. It just rings too close to what I’ve seen and to clientele who have suffered that reality. That’s not entertainment.

I will say that I know a couple people in the nursing/psych profession whose tastes make a beeline to any movie about insane haunted hospitals or horrific insane asylums, I think it’s their way of blowing off steam. And then they’re all “wow, the effects in this are really accurate!” [insert incredibly detailed medical description of horrific trauma onscreen]
