They obviously made a mistake and are spending hundreds of millions to correct it. They are protected with a $75 million dollars liability protection which they have said they will waive and are donating $500 million just to study the environmental impacts. Yet the President appears bent on their destruction.

I think Obama is just more worried about covering his political butt than trashing BP—that part is incidental.

We also want BP to be around to pay the bill—so we shouldn’t try to drive them to bankruptcy.
