“Immature age”? Jong-un is apparently around 30 years old. He’s led a very sheltered life, and not much is known about him so much of what the intel services know is through supposition and not hands-on knowledge.

That said, he might be a complete nutjob like his dad, or he might actually have an independent streak, though that’s not likely considering that Jong-il passed over his older two sons to pick Jong-un. Jong-il must have seen something in Jong-un that he liked - and his young age means that barring some unfortunate accident or massive change in North Korean politics, he’s going to be around for a good long time to come.

And he may also not have much control over things. As we move further down in generations, the potential for the leader to be purely symbolic seems like it would increase.
