It’s kind of like how they want to pat themselves on the back for the 1964 Civil Rights Act which I do concede wouldn’t have passed with out the GOP but at the same time, their party went out and nominated someone who voted against that law the same year LBJ signed it into law. And then there’s the Dixiecrats. THEY WERE DEMOCRATS. Yes, they were and then they started voting Republican when Nixon’s guys realized there was a market full of pissed off white Southerners who could not stand that the national Democratic party was becoming more liberal on civil rights. They also think they can just throw out candidates like Cruz and Rubio and it will immunize them against any charges of racism ignoring the fact that those guys have their own bigotries.
