You would have a point, but the US has one of the oldest surviving governments on earth right now. The Ottomans were in the same boat at the time. The best way to describe this is that things move quicker in some ways now than the days of the Ottoman Empire.

Alot of old governments were ended in revolutionary waves. The first being in the 1780’s-1800’s Time Frame. The Second was in the 1848-1870 era, and the third one after World War I.

By my memory, the US Government is the 3rd Oldest Functioning without interruption (Only the UK and Swedish Governments are older).
