I checked out that article on the “chicago-boyz” website… and it didn’t make any sense to me. Then I checked some of that particular writer’s other essays on that site, and they likewise seem quite muddled.

The writer lacks a knowledge of both science and mathematics. E.g., she confuses the fact that SPLC found 40 self-described military members on the Saxon website, with the idea that one can meaningful deduce from that what percentage of all military might be racists. You can’t do that, because one doesn’t know how many other racist websites exist, and of those which do exist we don’t know what the membership is like at those sites.

The SPLC gets flak here too when Charles links to them. The SPLC is not without its own ideology, yet there is no doubt that they collect a lot of data on individuals and groups of a notorious nature, and if that makes some people uncomfortable then so be it.
