Of course it’s true. But again, “not the best possible people” assumes a lot, “not the best people” could mean “not the best people yet”. Conflict in families are common and usually parents (yes, even liberal parents) are used to “getting their way”. Sometimes it takes time to work out conflicts so that children do not suffer from their parents’ misconceptions. (I know, I know, it sounds awfully like “it depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is”, but assuming static attitudes and non-temporal, eternal personalities can be more harmful than useful in debates like these.)

Then you should have talked about that. I see you mentioning children’s rights here for the first time in this debate.

No, my argument was fine on its own, thanks. It’s much better to accurately identify a problem first before moving on to any consequential solutions. Definition of a problem is not inconsequential.

You may prefer for me to lay out my arguments in the other way, but it’s quite an inferior way.
