That’s why she gets a pass from being called a bigot. The grief from losing a child is incalculable and I’m not going to label someone suffering that kind of pain.

I’m inclined to give anyone feeling such grief a pass, although not to let their feelings override my reason—except I do think of Cindy Sheehan, who someone earlier mentioned. I felt really bad for her, and I think I gave her more of a pass than I necessarily should have…and I still think she didn’t set out to get into bed with the people she did, she just wanted to exorcise what she was feeling.

But the vultures were waiting.
