And unfortunately, the problem is often in the opposite direction; kids are kicked out, forced to leave, abandoned, or run away due to the rejection. And the streets are a very, very, very rough fucking place for kids. That, to me, is an utter abdication of parental responsibility, either forcing or letting your kid go out into that cruel land.

Very, very few of the runaways I worked with hadn’t been raped or forced into prostitution at some point.
