I have a mouse living in a kitchen wall…I can here him in there…
one day I set 4 live traps and he just avoided them, so I set four brand new, old fashioned, break their neck style…a nice dab of peanut butter with a bit of cracker glued to the top…very stiff springs and sensitive too…the first night he ate 2 of the traps clean, not a trace of peanut butter…the next night he got the other 2…I reset all 4 and the same thing happened…he’s very very good

Bait and set two traps, then if you can carefully rest the edge of the business end of one trap, on the bait cup of the other, without setting off either one, you’ll get him.
