People back then didn’t have dozens of pairs of shoes.

He just needed a sole replacement. I can remember taking shoes (even cheap ones!) to get heels and soles. They were always leather shoes and would last for years (you could even have them re-shaped and re-sized). I’m not big on shoes and never have more than a half a dozen pairs. It’s enough since I rarely “dress up” any more. : )

Yeah. You don’t see all the shoe repair shops like when were younger. Everything is buy and throw away when done anymore.
