Sorry, not going to happen. A China is too insular, and the US too concerned with human rights to allow an alliance.

/I’m not saying we are wrong to be so concerned, but rather that said concern means that we won’t ally with a nation with China’s record and practices.

I know, but I wonder if we couldn’t make more progress on important issues like human rights if we were military allies instead of opponents? As it is, the US is financing the Chinese military, why not make it official? It is unthinkable to have war between the US and China, so let’s work on peace and prosperity.

The Pentagon is a bit too locked in the cold war mentality in my (commie) opinion.
