“Partial victory” in the sense that the judge has ruled that the only real way the police can view whatever is found in the documents is in terms of terrorism, i.e. is there proof in them that Miranda is either a terrorist or assisting terrorists. Scotland Yard’s been going over the data and building a criminal case, but Miranda’s lawyers will argue that the data is harmless without proof of the intended user’s plans for it.

“The High Court ruled the authorities could examine the seized material for the defence of national security and also to investigate whether Mr Miranda, 28, is a person who is or has been concerned with the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.” (my emphasis)
