Except that it is not always a choice. A woman in a life-threatening situation does not have a “choice.” Also, when these conditions do become life-threatening (G-D FORBID) the situation can deteriorate rapidly, and having to jump through legal hoops (“if the mother’s life is threatened yada yada”) can actually cause the death of the mother, and also the fetus.
