Actually, that’s only part one. Part two is how the Kents were secretly child abusers, though the abuse was mental instead of physical (much to Pa’s dismay).

(Every single one of Card’s protagonists is the victim of some sort of child abuse. Sometimes from multiple actors at different stages of their lives.)
