Do you not believe that words/actions have consequences. Rush said abhorrent things about Ms. Fluke. Those statements were hurtful, vile and defamatory. They’ve been repeated with gusto by the right wing since then.

Advertisers don’t want to get caught being associated with that - and it’s in their own self-interest to bail. It isn’t even necessary to have a boycott.

The threat of a boycott is sufficient to get corporate risk managers atwitter to reduce the fallout to them. The advertising dollars will go elsewhere. Rush will continue his show until CC chooses to drop him/end contract/mutually agree severance/suspend, etc. CC will see its profits drop as advertisers bail. Rush may see his wages drop if the contract allows for suspensions/etc.
