Personally I think, and I’ve said so before, downdinging an established member without comment is just a finger in the face.

No class at all.

But there’s individual variability in this, no? I downding and upding more frequently than most people, and I don’t think of it as sticking “a finger in the face”. Surely scholars differ on the question of downdings?
