I have a problem with American society’s reliance on economic exigencies to provide and guarantee balance in speech and thought. The assumption seems to be that acceptable, worthwhile thought attracts revenue whereas detrimental thought does not. First, that is not true. Look at what the Koch brothers fund with their Big Red Hate machine. Then, consider that, if it did work, would that be how you wanted to pass collective judgment over thought and speech. “Oh, it’ll stop if I pressure his advertisers”. NO. The source has to be attacked. Rush, not Sleep Train. Breitbart, not whoever advertises on his sites.
