I believe I am seeing the dynamics quite clearly.

The point that the teabaggers really are nazi scum who will destory American values is not only true, correct and accurate, but an inoculation for the masses.

And as soon as you say that, and in those exact terms, you have shut down the avenue of communicating with the very people to whom you wish to convince. Therefore, it is a ineffective argument, regardless of how accurate it may be.
