You ever watch an episode of a crime drama where the defense attorney, stuck with a client who is (to use a legal term) “guilty as fuck” and there’s no real way to argue reasonable doubt that they committed the crime, so they instead try to throw up a huge smokescreen by delving into the actions and motives of the victims? Or trying the time-dishonored tradition of “putting the system on trial”?

No, I’m familiar with the concept. It’s just so bizarre. Is he seriously suggesting that Trump’s extortion was a crime of passion?
