I was astonished to talk to Catholics who believe that rational thought is what went wrong with western civilization.

See…if we had just remained a bunch of devout Catholics under the control of Rome, God would have protected Europe forever against invasion as a white Catholic Christian paradise on Earth. And from this shining bastion of piety men in sandals would have gone forth to convert the heathen. We didn’t need no steenking science!
