You see anyone in the education system is free to spew hate and call it ‘academic freedom’.

You’re claiming that a untenured professor at a university is the same thing as a school board member? Hint: one of these people has the capability to influence policy toward teaching elementary, middle and high-school students (aka children), and is openly advocating that a group of them kill themselves. The other, (a bigot in his own right), might be able to influence a few members of his classroom of mostly young adults. No difference at all there.
