Oh how lovely. Drawing a line straight from the heart of post-modernism to Pol Pot. The fact that the rest of the tinpots of the 20th century were rabidly anti-intellectual (Stalin, Mao, Hitler et al) doesn’t tell you anything. Want me to make you a bar chart?

As I said up-thread in reply to Sharmuta, a great number of distinguished intellectuals simply denied or heartily applauded the evils wrought by Stalin, Mao, and their imitators in the last century. They didn’t support Hitler because, by the early 20th century, his brand of hatred based on race and nationalism had become an atavism. But class hatred in its socialist and communist guises seemed to be the wave of the future to them.

You seem like an intelligent person. If the soundbytes I’ve posted seem too simplistic, then let me instead offer a book recommendation.
