Indeed. After we discovered several Japanese atrocities in the Philippines, most of our soldiers would no longer take any Japanese prisoners. Any encountered were killed.

BTW, for those who like to pretend that people who oppose torture hate America and hate our troops, this is one of the primary arguments against torture— it endangers US troops who are captured.

(I know you don’t think that way DF of course, I’m offering it up for those who do).
