The guy wrote a book that was made into a movie. Now he’s doing interviews promoting that movie. How is he off limits? No such line exists placing him off limits other than one you’ve arbitrarily constructed.

Tapper asked a perfectly fair question. He’s not to blame for the hostile reaction of others. Everybody except Congress is more popular than the media. So what? Should they just stop doing any semblance of a thorough, critically thoughtful brand of reporting?

And it would be one thing if Tapper was hostile. He was not. Not at all. It is obvious he has great respect for our troops while having some legitimate questions about the long, long war.
