Humans have existed in modern form for about 250 thousand years and what was before that was still basically human more or less for about a half million years or so. If “natural immunity” were either helpful in protecting from disease or capable of bringing about herd immunity, pretty much no communicable disease that’s survivable would exist anymore and the population of the world would have skyrocketed a very long time ago, rather than right around when modern medicine and vaccinations became regular things.

anyone who has “natural immunity” would never have contracted the virus, so it does nothing for herd immunity.
Vaccines and survivors of infection have acquired immunity.
Personally, I prefer to acquire immunity via a vaccine, but I’m just weird that way…
