I’m an accountant, and I know there’s plenty wrong with the economy. I guess I differ from a lot of people in that I don’t blame any particular party or person.

The Canadian and US economies are connected in many ways. There is an old Canadian joke that when the US sneezes, Canada catches a cold.

This “worst economic downturn since the great depression” was different. Canada was not nearly as affected (effected?) as we would have thought. The conservative government in Canada (I think it is the first time in history where Canada has a more conservative government that the US) did things very differently. Both before and after the downturn.

For example in Canada housing prices were stable, and so were employment numbers.

History will teach us who was to blame, however we need the distance from it. I have my theory of course.
