Of course it looks for revenue. I said that in my post. However, the site I was questioning did not mention its non-profit status and—to me—seemed to imply that the SPLC finds bad guys just to make money.

Make money in this context could be the same thing as making “revenue” not profit. Far as I know the SPLC doesn’t make a profit; last time I donated to it (before I had to pretty much stop donating to charities cause of my own expenses) it was still running at a deficit.
And you are absolutely correct: volunteers (and organized volunteers in “charities”) do make the world go around - they tend to be leaner and more dedicated than say the United Way *Spit*.
