Sorry, but no, we did not stop Iraq from getting nukes. The nuclear claims was the least genuine on the list, in the run-up to the invasion.

You are forgetting Osirak, the first gulf war and the results of the pressure the US kept on Saddam. In total, it kept Saddam from having a bomb. The final invasion and hanging put an end to whatever bits of ambition he had left at that point. Agreed that post Osirak their was not much going on in the nuclear side.

However, it is clear that the pre-invasion efforts were very successful, which indicated that an Invasion of Iran is not the only way to interrupt their nuclear program.
