That is, to a great extent, true. On that Bowhunting forum, we USED TO have reasonable, and often somewhat heated debates about politics, economics, etc, but over time, more assholes showed up, and more rational people got disgusted and left.

Eventually, it was just the assholes and me. Now it’s just the assholes.

Such is the origin of Godwin’s Law; the longer a particular heated discussion goes on, the greater the probability that it will descend into madness.
