How did he get out of the airplane and end up on the tarmac? Usually you get out by way of the sky bridge. Is this the 1960s again and we’re deplaning straight out onto the tarmac?

If it’s a regional jet or turboprop, those can’t usually be serviced by skyways and you you have to go out on the tarmac to get on board or off.
