Speaking of constitutional amendments (in the previous thread), it amazes me that they ever got the one passed that outlawed booze.

Given how it was driven by our xenophobia & religion (wine = catholics & other southern Europeans or worse, while the Baptists, Methodists and etc put grape juice into the communion cups to make their hate normalized.)

Looking at the history of the later “war on drugs” I’m more surprised that they ever passed the amendment ending the disaster of prohibition.
