I think the problem was that this was a loose combination of many groups, without any real central guidance. I know a group from NJ who got together through Meet Up and went with 4 buses of peeps. The pics they showed me were very different. The people they showed me were of older Americans, people in wheel chairs, people of different races, moms pushing strollers. The signs were clever and respectful. No birthers, racists or even Nazi signs.
In my mind, this is like the blind men describing the elephant. You make conclusions on what you experience, but your description may not be completely accurate.
