Question for you re: Chinese calendar. I look up my birthdate and find different “year of the” answers. Can you direct me to a trusted site?

There’s really no one site that works. See, because they use a lunar calendar for this festival, and because the standard calendar (the one used for regular stuff) is a solar one, there’s always a mis-match of a couple days between them.

We have here a fellow who can more or less cast the horoscope - he’s a missionary, and yet… - and I’ve always relied on his general determination of the date and such.

it gets really complicated, as he’s glad to explain, because there are sub-cycles (the five elements and such) rotating throughout and among the years, to the point that the day and even your more or less hour of birth make a difference.

Overall, though, I’d say to check out the Taiwan consulate’s website:

Or the PRC’s NY branch, although PRC don’t really have much on it.
