In that situation, I suppose I would say something like: “Israel has a right to exist, a right to it’s sovereignty, and a right to defend it’s citizens and retaliate against those who are launching rockets into civilian populations on a daily basis. If you can’t understand that, you need to fuck right off.”

Yet as you say, this is your friend. A more diplomatic approach would be favorable, but being in the same boat as you when it comes to “meat world” articulation, I don’t have any good suggestions.
