Hang on, how can you accidentally email the wrong person like that? You wouldn’t do that by hitting “Reply All”, and even if you were manually typing it in, most email programs have a history and auto-complete, so just starting to type the address would bring up the correct name and email address as an auto-complete option.

The only way I can think of it happening accidentally is if this person had emailed Marc Caputo on a previous occasion, which means it would come up on the auto-complete options, possibly at the start because “Marc” comes before “Michael” in alphabetical terms.

It’s not as hard as you think. I almost got fired from my current gig within the first month because I missed a single letter in an email address and ended up sending a sensitive advertising report to someone else by accident. I was VERY lucky that my client was overseas and the wrong address I sent that report to ended up being a dead address that wasn’t actually in use. I still had my work laptop confiscated and I had a very long weekend to sweat out whether or not I still had a job.

To this day, the COO reminds me of that single email. It almost cost me everything but he uses it as an example of how I have worked my ass off to overcome my mistake and have proven myself to the company.
