The only Republican Presidents that I have any respect for are Lincoln, Grant, (Teddy) Roosevelt, and Eisenhower. Herbert Hoover I would put in the category of “Would have been a respected figure if he’d never been President”. I have nothing specific against Hayes as a President, but even though he didn’t engineer the treasonous conspiracy that put him in the White House, he did acquiesce in it.
What about Garfield? Anyhow I sorta like Taft a little. Thought TR was too hard on him. Harding was an awful President in many ways but probably the best President on Civil Rights between Grant and FDR.
