I’ve worked at a couple union places……you/we pay for some ridiculous “work rules”. I worked @ Newport News shipyard, I was
an electrician wiring/installing busses/breakers in distubution cabs. Some bolt hole didn’t line up so I reamed it. Supervisor saw me and told me not to do it again….”That’s sheet metal, you’re an electrician….next time call the sheet metal shop. “Next time”
was about 10 minutes later…it took sheet metal about 4 hours to show up.

I had a similar experience as an electrician. Plumbers had pipe stacked against where we were supposed to start installing EMT for sub-feeds to apartment clusters. I started moving pipe and was told to stop and find a plumber.

Two days later…

IMHO unions have outlived their usefulness.
