re: #58 lawhawk

My wife’s a huge Muppets fan, and I used to watch the show growing up. I had hopes that it would meet the expectations of some of the really good teaser ads they put out (spoofing everything from the Green Lantern to other pop culture references).

The movie turned out to be like most other Muppet movies. It had some great moments, some awkward ones, and uneven in most respects. It was a nostalgic take that was new.

Does it mean they’ll make more? Probably. It did make enough to warrant still more movies (and note too that the youtube clips of the Muppets doing songs like Bohemian Rhapsody or Ode to Joy are well received and have helped revitalize the characters). That and Disney owns the rights, so we’ll see more of them in years to come.

I am going to say that you are being charitable, but perhaps you just liked it more than I. For sure there will be more, given Disney, as long as numbers warrant it. But my kids (and therefore I) won’t see them, at least not in the theatre, and that is saying something about the film since my kids think Spy Kids 3 is the greatest movie EVER.
