re: #620 Floral Giraffe

I do NOT agree with you.
Justice has not been served.
The victim of the crime has been paid and wants to get on with her life.
The perp has paid some cash & you think he should walk.
I disagree.

No, you don’t understand. You are wrapped up in your anger over the details of the case. I really don’t care for the details at this point.

The actual victim has forgiven Polanski. Therefore, neither I nor you have legitimate grounds for holding onto outrage over this. Polanski did not victimize you or I. He victimized someone else, and that person has since forgiven him.

So, my opinion on this is that criminal act between Polanski and his victim has been settled between the two people involved. I fully understand that the state has legal standing to pursue it, but I really don’t see the point of getting worked up over it.

And calling Polanski a “menace to society” when he has clearly been living in society for 30+ years without committing another crime like this seems illogical. He is obviously not a menace to society despite the crime he committed those years ago.

Now, with regards to forgiveness, you simply cannot forgive someone and yet still demand they be punished for the act you are supposedly forgiving them for. Its completely incompatible with the definition of forgiveness.
