I have mixed thoughts about the Germans at the time of this. My rage says how could they? They SMELLED it for God’s sake and there’s no mistaking the smell of flesh. But what I realized, by the time it was actually happening, it was too late to stop it. Nothing could be done once the Nazi machine was rolling and certainly not once these camps were going. If you said anything, you were imprisoned or killed.

The German people signed on to “white nationalism” or “German nationalism”. A strong Germany for the most part. Those of us on this board who oppose nationalism do so for what it ultimately creates.

Of course, many Germans did oppose Hitler, saved countless people and escaped miraculously with their lives, like Irena Sendler and many others.
